Project Brief
OMI is an evocative dance performance choreographed by Tony Adigun, exploring the duality and complexity of water as a fundamental element of life. Featuring five international male dancers, the piece delves into the sensuality and symbolism of water, portraying its capacity to sustain and to destroy. Through intricate choreography and compelling physicality, Adigun examines the relationship between humanity and this life-giving yet potentially devastating force.
Commissioned by Breakin’ Convention and co-produced with Parc de La Villette, OMI debuted at Breakin’ Convention 2012 at Sadler’s Wells Theatre. This production is a holistic and symbolic exploration, blending contemporary and hip-hop dance to create a visually striking and thought-provoking experience. Tony Adigun’s visionary approach is complemented by Lee Curran’s atmospheric lighting design, enhancing the thematic depth of the performance.
