Project Brief
Unleashed, choreographed and directed by Tony Adigun, is a bold and dynamic response to Richard Alston’s 1983 classic Wildlife. Commissioned as part of the Alston Takes Cover project by The Place and Dance Umbrella, this electrifying piece was created in collaboration with EDge, the postgraduate company of London Contemporary Dance School. Unleashed is a vivid testament to Adigun’s innovative approach, blending contemporary dance with sharp, knife-edge timing to create a performance that celebrates and reinvents Alston’s iconic work.
Premiered at the Dance Umbrella Festival 2011 to critical acclaim, Unleashed toured extensively as part of the EDGE repertoire in 2011–2012. Adigun’s choreography, praised for its bold energy and visceral connection to the music, showcases his ability to honor the legacy of Wildlife while bringing a fresh and modern perspective to the stage. With a talented ensemble of dancers, Unleashed exemplifies Tony Adigun’s visionary style and his commitment to pushing the boundaries of contemporary dance.
