Show and Prove

Created & Curated by Tony Adigun

Show & Prove is a dance platform curated by Tony Adigun, created to bring together outstanding dancers and crews while providing artists with a space to present and test new work across multiple dance genres.

Produced by Avant Garde Dance in partnership with local promoters, the platform was developed not only as a performance event but as an audience-development and community-engagement initiative — bringing artists, audiences and local dance communities together through a shared celebration of dance.

Show & Prove has been presented at venues including Rich Mix and Broadway Theatre Barking, showcasing both established and emerging talent from across the UK dance scene.

Show & Prove — The Show

The Show brings together dancers and crews to present new work in a curated live programme. Designed to give artists a platform to experiment, perform and connect with new audiences, the event celebrates the breadth of talent and styles within the UK dance community.

Breakin’ Convention described it as “a show not to be missed.”

Show & Prove — The Battle

The Battle takes Show & Prove back to the raw energy of freestyle culture.

Combining underground and mainstream dance, the event brings together leading freestylers, guest performers, DJs and local talent in an up-close battle environment.

Tony Adigun curates talent from the places in which the event is presented, creating a programme that connects local dance communities with established artists and the wider UK scene.

Styles have included hip hop, popping, krump and experimental forms, accompanied by music spanning hip hop, trap, garage, grime and beyond.

The Place — Special Edition, 2019

On 16 March 2019, Avant Garde Dance presented a special edition of Show & Prove — The Battle at The Place in London.

The event formed part of The Place’s Spring 2019 programme, which opened its building to selected artists and organisations to curate their own events.
